“In There” was inspired by my personal experience of being diagnosed with a colon tumor. Over a period of further tests, I contacted a close friend for support. She and her husband offered hope and assurance, based on knowledge. Their daughter was living with colon cancer. I began constructing an artwork that visually represented my fears. As my tests concluded I learned that I had been misdiagnosed and remained healthy. At the same time, my friends’ daughter took a sudden turn. She died in same week I was pronounced healthy. I completed the piece in honor of Jenny and her parents.
