One of a series of portraits of Thelma Combes: My Great Aunt "Terry" played first-chair bass in the Chicago Women's Symphony before moving to the role of lone female bassist and vocalist in popular jazz bands during the roaring 1920s.
The artwork is made of: wool, rayon, cotton, eco felt, polyester stuffing, buttons, and beads.
Techiques include hand stitching/embroidery, applique and quilting.
